Program Overview

The Dental Hygiene program prepares you for a position in a licensed profession with a variety of career options. The Registered Dental Hygienist is both a professional oral health educator and a clinician.

The ODS program endeavors to practice state-of-the-art oral disease assessment and treatment procedures. You will have the opportunity to actively participate in professional activities through the Student American Dental Hygienists' Association. The local chapter will be active on campus and in the community promoting oral health.

• You will gain education in the ODS Dental Hygiene Clinic, which serves both the campus and the community.
• You will work under direct supervision of experienced faculty.
• You will gain experience in patient assessment, management and treatment in all aspects of dental hygiene care.

Associates of Applied Science in Dental Hygiene

The ODS College of Dental Sciences will offer an 18-month cohort program leading to the Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree in Dental Hygiene from OIT for those applicants who have completed required courses. A new class will begin each fall.

Bachelor's Degree Completion Program

A.A.S. graduates who wish to complete the Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene can enroll in the online degree completion program offered by Oregon Institute of Technology.
